Google Fiber project expands

The search giant's fiber optic network, called Google Fiber, will expand to Olathe, Kan., a city near Kansas City with a population of 126,000. Kansas City earlier won a spirited competition to become the first test market city for the experimental network. Olathe is the 4th town near Kansas City to join Google's (GOOG) network. The company said Google Fiber brings speeds up to 100 times faster than average broadband network connections. Shares rose 0.4% to 814.71.
