Grains futures rise, livestock prices drop

Wheat, corn, soybeans futures jump on Chicago Board of Trade; Beef and pork prices drop

CHICAGO (AP) -- Grain prices mostly rose Thursday in early trading on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery added 16.75 cents to $8.16 a bushel; December corn jumped 21.75 cents to $6.9625 a bushel; December oats were unchanged at $3.5675 a bushel; while November soybeans climbed 21.75 cents to $14.965 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures fell on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

August live cattle dropped 0.52 cent to $1.1895 a pound; August feeder cattle fell 1.32 cent to $1.4955 a pound; while August lean hogs shed 1.02 cent to 93.85 cents a pound.
