LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - Jun 5, 2014) - Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) has been named one of the world's most environmentally-friendly companies in Newsweek's annual Green Rankings. LVS holds the #18 spot on the U.S. 500 list, and the #28 position on the Global 500 list. This accomplishment makes Las Vegas Sands the highest ranked consumer services company in the entire country and the second highest globally.

The Newsweek Green Rankings comprehensively assess the environmental performance of the 500 largest publicly-traded companies in the United States and around the world. The rankings are based on eight key performance indicators; Energy Productivity, Greenhouse Gas Productivity, Water Productivity, Waste Productivity, Reputation, Sustainability Pay Link, Sustainability Board Committee, and Audited Environmental Metrics.

Through its sustainability program, Sands ECO360, LVS has set the standard for environmental conservation in the hospitality and gaming industries. The company remains focused on meeting the environmental objectives in the four fundamental areas; green buildings, environmentally responsible operations, green meetings, and stakeholder engagement. Las Vegas Sands properties in every region have received prestigious "green" certifications including Gold LEED certification of The Venetian and Sands Expo Center for existing buildings and Silver LEED certification of The Palazzo for new building construction.

For our company to be acknowledged for that effort and our achievements is truly gratifying."

The Newsweek Green Rankings announcement comes on the heels of LVS launching its new corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares, which establishes the company's core corporate social responsibility focus and commitment to reducing its impact on the environment.
