NEW YORK (AP) -- Tax prep company H&R Block Inc. said Wednesday that it named Gregory J. Macfarlane, a former executive at Ceridian Corp. and General Electric Co., as its chief financial officer as its current CFO takes a new job at the company.
The appointment is effective June 4. CFO Jeff Brown is transitioning to its chief accounting and risk officer.
Macfarlane most recently served as chief financial officer of Ceridian, a human resources and payroll services company, from 2007 to 2011.
Prior to that, he spent more than 13 years at GE, where he served as CFO for WMC Mortgage from 2004 to 2007. The division, a U.S. mortgage business, was sold in 2007 during the meltdown of the U.S. housing market.
