Havertys Receives Century Award


Atlanta, Georgia, November 6, 2013 - Today HAVERTYS (NYSE:HVT and HVT.A) was presented with the Century Award from the Cox Family Enterprise Center at Kennesaw State University`s Coles College of Business.   The Century Award honors a business that has been in operation for at least 100 years.  Clarence Smith, chairman, president and CEO, and Rawson Haverty Jr., senior vice president, real estate and development, accepted the award at the dinner celebrating the 22nd year of the Georgia Family Business of the Year Awards.

Winning businesses and finalists are chosen by a panel of independent judges on the basis of their: proven business success; positive family/business linkage; multigenerational family business involvement; contributions to industry and community; and innovative business practices and strategy.

Businesses honored as winners in other categories were Hill Aircraft, General Produce, Inc. and Ed Voyles Automotive Group.

Clarence Smith commented, "We are very proud to be honored with this award that acknowledges the leadership and hard work of those who have gone before as well as the dedication and excellence of our current associates."
