Hawaiian Airlines Reveals Impressive October Traffic Data
Hawaiian Airlines, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings Inc. (HA), declared impressive traffic statistics for the month of Oct 2014.
The carrier stated that it has transported 860,260 passengers in the month of October, up 4.6% year over year. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) climbed 1.4% on a year-over-year basis. However, available seat miles (or the carrier’s passenger carrying capacity) declined 0.8% year over year. Load factor (a measure of capacity utilization) came in at 84.7% in Oct 2014, as against 82.9% a year ago.
Hawaiian Airlines also revealed similar data on a year-to-date basis. The company disclosed that 8.5 million passengers have been transported in the carrier during the 10-month period, up 1.8% year over year. RPMs, jumped 1.1% from the comparable year-ago period. Available seat miles registered growth of 1.4%. Load factor declined marginally to 81.6%.
Hawaiian Airlines transports passengers and cargo via air between the Hawaiian Islands and also connects them with certain U.S. cities. The company also operates flights on international routes originating from the Hawaiian Islands.
In addition, Hawaiian Airlines was also in news when the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT.V) awarded it the highest rank among 16 largest national carriers for on-time performance, in the month of September. Moreover, the company recorded the least number of flight cancellations in the same month. The carrier also boasted on-schedule arrival accuracy of 90.8% through September, receiving DOT’s top rank for punctuality.
