Health Canada warns on cases of flesh-eating disease reported with Avastin

Hoffmann-La Roche Limited, in consultation with Health Canada, has informed healthcare professionals of important new safety information regarding the use of AVASTIN, the regulator announced. Necrotizing fasciitis, a severe, life-threatening bacterial infection of the skin and soft tissue, has been reported, in rare cases, in patients treated with AVASTIN. Some of these patients have died from complications of necrotizing fasciitis, the warning noted.
