Health Catalyst Congratulates Larry Grandia on Winning the Utah Governor's Medal in Science and Technology

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Dec 16, 2013) - Health Catalyst, the leader in healthcare data warehousing and analytics, today congratulated Larry Grandia on winning the 2013 Utah Governor's Medal in Science and Technology, awarded by Governor Gary R. Herbert and the State Science Advisor, Dr. Carol Lynn George, along with the State Advisory Council on Science and Technology.

Grandia, a Health Catalyst board member, helped expand the early systems at Salt Lake City's LDS Hospital into a critical infrastructure supporting world-class patient care that became an industry model for high-quality, low-cost care. During his 28 years as IT leader and CIO at Intermountain HealthCare, more than 20 Intermountain hospitals implemented strong financial, administrative and clinical health IT systems, establishing a foundation for coordinated care that has made Intermountain one of the most admired health systems in the nation.

Now retired, Grandia continues to apply his expertise to improving the quality of healthcare in Utah and nationally. He is a frequent healthcare industry speaker and a fellow of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), which earlier this year awarded him the prestigious Industry Leader Award, as well as a fellow, lifetime member and past board member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Grandia has served on the board of Health Catalyst since 2011.

Gov. Herbert will award the Governor's Medals to Grandia and six other individuals in an awards ceremony in the Leonardo Museum, Salt Lake City, on January 15, 2014.
