PRINCETON, NJ--(Marketwire -06/07/12)- Heartland Payment Systems (HPY), one of the nation's largest payments processors, today announced that it has been named to the 2012 FORTUNE 1000 list of America's largest companies by FORTUNE magazine. With 2011 revenues of $1.996 billion, Heartland ranked No. 926 after debuting on the list at No. 954 in 2010.
"Being recognized on the FORTUNE 1000 list for the third year in a row is a testament to the remarkable efforts of our nearly 3,000 employees who work diligently to provide superior service to our customers," said Bob Carr, Heartland's chairman and chief executive officer. "Additionally, Heartland's commitment to building our business through fair dealing and transparency, as we've been doing since our inception 15 years ago, demonstrates that honesty and integrity still go a long way in the business world."
To that point, Heartland has been widely recognized for its Durbin Dollars initiative. The Durbin Amendment, part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act, was enacted to provide business owners financial relief from card processing costs by capping signature debit card interchange rates. In accordance with The Merchant Bill of Rights (www.merchantbillofrights.org), Heartland is passing the entire Durbin interchange reduction through to its clients as the legislation intended. Since October 1, 2011, Heartland has credited its merchants with more than $160 million in Durbin Dollar savings.
Beyond its Durbin Dollar initiative, Heartland continues to grow its payments processing product suite with the launch of its Mobuyle™ mobile payment acceptance solution as well as the expansion of its SmartLink managed network services offering into the restaurant space. The company is also increasing its presence in key vertical markets, including the K-12 education space, for which Heartland is now the leading school payment management solutions provider.
The FORTUNE 1000 is a list of the 1000 largest American companies ranked on annual revenues.
