Paul Singer’s Elliott Management, a New York hedge fund, disclosed new positions in a 13F filed this month. In this series, we’ll discuss some of the notable positions the fund traded in first-quarter 2014.

Elliott Management added new positions in Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD), SM Energy Co. (SM), and Hornbeck Offshore Services (HOS) and sold stakes in NetApp Inc. (NTAP) and Time Warner Inc. (TWX). A notable position reduction for the fund was Delphi Automotive (DLPH).

Founded in 1977, Elliott manages about $24 billion in assets. The main fund returned 2.5% in the first quarter, news reports noted.
