HP uploads WebOS to LG

The computer and printer maker is selling its WebOS operating system technology to LG Electronics. Terms were undisclosed. The announcement follows Hewlett-Packard's (HPQ) decision to offer a tablet using Google's (GOOG) Android operating system. HP acquired WebOS when it bought smartphone pioneer Palm for $1.2 bil in '10. But HP's TouchPad tablet, which used WebOS and actually garnered some positive reviews, failed to gain traction against Apple's (AAPL) dominant iPad. Hewlett-Packard shares fell 0.7% to 19.07.
