SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire -04/02/12)- While the publishing industry has migrated online, talented writers are still trying to figure out how to make the transition from the printed page to a Web page. To solve this problem, HubPages, the premier online community for everyday experts, today launched a new program aimed at identifying promising writers, and educating them over a paid six-month training program on how to write effectively for online audiences. Called the Apprenticeship, the program will induct thirty talented writers every month, and provide extensive educational tools, personalized feedback from seasoned mentors, support from fellow members, and rigorous writing requirements, all in an effort to put best online publishing practices into action.
"After more than a million articles published by more than 200,000 authors on HubPages.com, we have a good grasp of the practices used by our best writers to achieve lasting success on HubPages," says Paul Edmondson, CEO of HubPages. "Like a record label developing the next top selling artist, the Apprentice Program is developing a roster of widely read authors. We are developing stars. The standards are high, and not everyone will be able to see the program through, but we are confident that those who have the necessary determination will enjoy long term rewards for their efforts.
Apprenticeship participants will be paid a bonus for each article published according to program requirements, in addition to the advertising-based revenue sharing programs that are available to all writers on HubPages. The Apprenticeship will operate on a limited basis at the beginning, with one team of 30 participants beginning the program every month. The company plans to eventually expand the scope of the program to bring on multiple teams each month, and to train successful graduates of the Apprenticeship to function as mentors for future teams.

Applicants will be evaluated on the articles they have published on HubPages and other writing platforms such as blogs, and they must have an active Google AdSense account. Additionally, HubPages will also be looking for applicants with a positive, respectful online demeanor, since mutual support and the ability to read others' work and provide insightful feedback are essential elements of online writing success where writers often work collaboratively and are responsible for their own promotional efforts.
