Hughes Watters Askanase Partner and Paralegals Achieve Distinguished Certifications from Texas Board of Legal Specialization

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Steven D. Shurn, a partner with Houston-based law firm Hughes Watters Askanase L.L.P. (HWA) (www.hwa.com), has been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) in Business Bankruptcy Law. HWA paralegals Elle Glenn and Misty Hardy also have been certified by the TBLS in Real Estate Law.

According to the TBLS Web site (www.tbls.org), more than 70,000 attorneys are licensed to practice in Texas, but only 7,000 have earned the right to be publicly recognized as Board Certified specialists in one of 21 select areas of law. The TBLS was established in 1974 by the Supreme Court of Texas at the request of the State Bar of Texas and is the only governing board authorized to certify attorneys in legal specialty areas.

Hardy has been working with HWA co-managing partner Gary Gunn for 15 years. She has been a real estate paralegal for 12 of those years.
