Hybrid vehicle maker to open plant and HQ in Danville, create 150 jobs over 3 years

DANVILLE, Va. (AP) -- A hybrid armored vehicle maker plans to open a plant and new headquarters in Danville.

City officials said Thursday that Hybrid Vehicles of Danville Inc. will invest $1.5 million in the new facilities.

The plant will produce employ 25 workers initially. The work force could grow to at least 150 workers over three years.

Hybrid Vehicles of Danville received a $420,000 grant from the Tobacco Commission Revitalization Opportunity Fund. Owner Jim Bailey says the grant enables the company to buy equipment and hire workers to meet existing contracts.
