Icahn woos Dell shareholders

Seeking to derail Michael Dell's proposed leveraged buyout of his namesake company, billionaire Carl Icahn is urging the company offer $14 for each of its 1.1 bil shares. Michael Dell's group offered $13.65 a share in a deal that would take the company private. Icahn, in an open letter to Dell (DELL) shareholders, said he thinks the Michael Dell/Silver Lake deal significantly undervalues Dell and noted it would remain publicly traded under the deal his group offers. Dell shares rose 0.5% to 13.48.
