iFactory and De Gruyter Launch the New De Gruyter Online

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire -01/11/12)- With access to 52,000 titles, approximately 155,000 book chapters and more than 220,000 journal articles, the new De Gruyter Online [www.degruyter.com] has launched!

A collaboration with award-winning Boston-based agency, iFactory, the new De Gruyter Online is the publisher's new integrated online platform. The new website provides instant access to online journals, book content and print titles. The convergence of print and web under one roof replaces its previous platform, Reference Global.

"Logistically, it was immensely challenging to replace multiple websites with one," said Dr. Sven Fund, Managing Director of De Gruyter. "iFactory was the best partner to handle this task."

The new site is built on iFactory's publishing platform, PubFactory. PubFactory provides a single unified platform for all of De Gruyter's content, including: journals, eBooks, reference databases, directories, and print books. There is also a custom publishing component, providing De Gruyter with the capability to create POD print books.

The new user interface delivers simplified, more intuitive navigation, which is better tailored to the diverse information needs of users. Advanced personalization features allow users to work with content in a variety of ways: content alerts, annotations, and searches can be saved, as well as a personal virtual bookshelf for titles, chapters, and articles. Librarians may subscribe to subject newsletters with eTOC, saved search, and citations alerts.

"The De Gruyter platform was a great validation of the core architectural choices that we made with PubFactory," said Tom Beyer, Director of Publishing for iFactory. "The synergies provided by bringing all content into a single platform are huge. In addition, the integration with De Gruyter's backend systems is unparalleled which was the key to providing a truly seamless user experience. It's tremendously exciting to see this go live."
