Trading seems to be on pause today with only 3.6 million options changing hands so far and light action in the indexes and ETFs, optionMONSTER's data systems show.
The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 525,000 contracts traded, with 352,000 puts. Next up are the S&P 500 Index (:SPX) options at 182,000, of which 105,000 are puts. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has 132,000 contracts changing hands and a put/call ratio of 2 to 1.
The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) barely tops 100,000, with 62,000 puts. The CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) has 75,000 options moving, with calls slightly outpacing puts. The iShares MSCI EAFE Index Fund (EFA) has 48,000 contracts turning over, with a put/call ratio of 3 to 1.
