Total option volume is just shy of 6 million contracts as calls are again active in the indexes and ETFs, according to optionMONSTER's data systems.
The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (SPY) has 1.1 million options traded, with 698,000 puts. The S&P 500 Index (:SPX) is up next up with 270,000 options and a put/call ratio of less than 2 to 1.
The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has 225,000 options turning over, including 136,000 puts. The CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) has 194,000 contracts, led by 137,000 calls.
The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has 152,000 options changing hands, with 83,000 calls. The SPDR Financial Fund (XLF) sees 102,000 options trading with a put/call ratio of less than 2 to 1.
The SPDR Gold Shares Fund (GLD) has 97,000 moving, with 53,000 calls. And the iShares Silver Fund (SLV) option volume totals 89,000, dominated by 70,000 calls.
