The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (:SPY) has 898,000 contracts traded, with puts outpacing calls by more than 2 to 1. Next up are the CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) options at 454,000, led by 321,000 calls.
Just behind is the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) with 447,000 options and a put/call ratio of more than 3 to 1. The S&P 500 Index (:SPX) has 258,000 contracts changing hands, with 145,000 puts.
The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Note (VXX) has 255,000 options traded, with puts outnumbering calls by 2 to 1. The SPDR Gold Shares Fund (GLD) has 190,000 options turning over, with 114,000 puts.
The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (:EEM) has 141,000 contracts traded, with 118,000 puts. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (:QQQ) has 126,000 options traded, with 71,000 puts.
