The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (:SPY) has 963,000 options traded, with 576,000 puts. The SPDR Financial Fund (:XLF) has 352,000 contracts changing hands, with puts outpacing calls by 9 to 1.
Following is the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) with 258,000 contracts and a put/call ratio of 3 to 1. Close behind is the S&P 500 Index (:SPX) with 228,000 options and a put/call ratio of 2 to 1.
The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has seen 182,000 contracts turn over, led by 146,000 puts. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) has volume of 139,000, with 75,000 calls. The CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) has 123,000 options traded, with 70,000 puts.
