The option volume is relatively light with 4.5 million contracts as today's index and ETF activity is led by some familiar names on optionMONSTER's data systems.
The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (NYSEArca:SPY) has seen 418,000 contracts trade so far, trailing Apple's (NasdaqGS:AAPL) 564,000 options. The Power Shares QQQ Trust (NasdaqGM:QQQ) is the only other name with more than 100,000 contracts, with a put/call ratio of roughly 2 to 1. The S&P Index (SPX) options have turned over 96,000 times.
The U.S. Oil Fund (NYSEArca:USO) sees 80,000 contracts changing hands, 70,000 of which are puts. The SPDR Gold Shares Fund (NYSEArca:GLD) has 63,000 options traded, while the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (NYSEArca:IWM) has only 59,000.
The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) has seen 57,000 options move. The iShares Silver Fund (NYSEArca:SLV) has 40,000 options traded.
