Today's economic calendar features inflation data and leading indicators. Neither has significant potential to move the market.
The Census Bureau will report the consumer price index at 8:30 a.m. ET. Economists forecast that the overall reading, also known as the "headline number," will show an increase to 0.3 percent from unchanged last month. The so-called core number, which excludes food and energy, is expected to increase 0.02 percent.
The data is not likely to significantly affect sentiment because investors have recently been more concerned about possible economic weakness than runaway prices. Inflation is also not a major worry of the Federal Reserve at present, so the implications for interest rates will likely be small.
Leading economic indicators follow at 10 a.m. ET. This report entails a series of data points, most of which have already been disseminated. Although its impact on trading is usually minor, it provides useful clues on the direction of the economic, as did yesterday's Philadelphia Fed report.
