Instacart Launches One-Hour Delivery Service in Dallas

Following Success in Austin, Houston and San Antonio, Instacart Expands Its Operations Into a Fourth Major Texas City to Serve Approximately 90,000 More Households

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - July 31, 2016) - Instacart (www.instacart.com), the fast-growing retail delivery service whose personal shoppers hand pick and deliver items from trusted local stores, announced today an expansion into Dallas, the fourth city it serves in Texas. As of August 1, Dallas residents looking to purchase from Whole Foods Market, Central Market, Petco, Spec's, Total Wine & More, Kroger and Tom Thumb can have their order delivered by Instacart in as little as one hour.

With today's expansion, Instacart serves over three million people and approximately 1.2 million households throughout Texas -- including 90,000 households in Dallas alone.

Instacart has been available in Austin and Houston since 2014, and has seen delivery volume increase by more than 10 percent month-over-month in those markets since launch.

"We've seen incredible growth and momentum over the last twelve months in our existing Texas markets, and we're excited to be expanding into Dallas," said Chad Shepler, General Manager at Instacart. "The customer demand in Dallas has been off the charts, and we're proud to be able to give Dallas residents convenient and quick access to fresh groceries whenever they want."

Whole Foods Market will offer delivery through Instacart at prices that are the same as Dallas customers will find in-store. "Our customers love the speed and convenience of receiving Whole Foods Market groceries right to their door, so we are thrilled to offer this service to our Dallas shoppers," said Jeff Jenkins, Whole Foods Market's global executive coordinator of digital strategy. "Our partnership with Instacart helps provide customers with creative solutions that fit their busy lives, all with the same customer service and quality that Whole Foods Market provides within the four walls of our stores."

"Central Market strives to provide customers not only with a unique food experience but with innovative and convenient services," said Paul Tepfenhart, Vice President of eCommerce at H-E-B. "A partnership with a company like Instacart allows us to offer a shopping experience to fit the culinary needs of our customers looking for time-saving solutions."

"We love being able to provide our customers with the option and convenience of same-day delivery," says Lisa Rydman, Spec's 3rd Generation.

Instacart's initial delivery area in Dallas includes the following zip codes: 75201, 75202, 75204, 75205, 75206, 75209, 75214, 75219, 75225, 75231. It will also serve residents in the Uptown, Highland Park, Lakewood, Bluffview, Northeast Dallas, Turtle Creek, University Park and Vickery Meadow neighborhoods.

For every order placed in the first month following launch, Instacart will donate one meal to the North Texas Food Bank. Instacart will also have a presence at several events in the local Dallas community during its launch, including the Dallas Film Festival Night at the Pero, Wine Walk in Bishop Arts, Dallas Arboretum Summer Concert Series and Dallas Farmers Market.

How Instacart works: Customers go online to www.instacart.com or open the Instacart mobile app on their iPhone or Android device, select their zip code and store, add items to a virtual cart, and then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or up to seven days in the future) and check out. An Instacart Personal Shopper accepts the order on his/her smartphone, uses the Instacart Shopper app to guide them through shopping, and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.

Instacart also announced last week that it launched in San Diego, CA. With these two new markets, Instacart now serves 25 regions across the United States.
