IPad sales brisk, Surface slow

Investor's Business Daily

Apple's (AAPL) new iPad Mini attracted holiday shoppers over the Black Friday weekend. It was likely the top weekend seller, analysts said, well ahead of Microsoft's (MSFT) new Surface tablet with attachable keyboard. Wedge Partners said the Mini's $329 price tag is appealing. Global Equities analyst Trip Chowdhry said Surface is attracting interest but that's "not necessarily leading to sales." Customers may be waiting for a Windows 8 operating software version, analysts said. Apple shares rose 3.2% to 589.53. Microsoft fell 1.1% to 27.39.
