Marketwired

COSTA MESA, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2012) - ISC8® Inc. (OTCBB: ISCI) ("ISC8" or the "Company"), a provider of advanced cybersecurity solutions, and the Railroad Commission of Texas, recently co-hosted an Oil & Gas Cybersecurity Workshop in Austin, Texas featuring presentations that provided information about available resources for prevention, mitigation and recovery from cyber attacks.

The symposium included presentations from cybersecurity experts from the Oil and Gas industry, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), academia, and security vendors that specialize in cybersecurity and the protection of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems that control remote facilities.

The workshop was conducted to foster a greater awareness of the threat of network breaches to Oil & Gas networks and the vulnerability of SCADA.

ISC8's Llewellyn Derry, Vice President of Business Development, presented "The Anatomy of a Cyber Attack" and outlined weaknesses in the current Defense in Depth architectures, which are currently failing to detect advanced cyber attacks. The general agreement of the symposium was that the human element is the weakest link and security breaches within public sectors could potentially cause disruption of critical infrastructure and significant harm to the US and quality of life.
