"We consider our positioning in the "Visionaries" quadrant for Session Border Controllers by Gartner confirmation of focus on innovation and of capacity to see evolutionary drivers," said Stefano Pileri, CEO of Italtel. "Our technology vision embraces new trends such as NFV and SDN as well as innovation element for service providers and enterprises as voice and video on LTE, HD video communication, WebRTC, OTT applications."

Italtel Session Border Controllers address communication service providers' and enterprises' needs for UNI and NNI applications also improving delivery and interoperability of IMS and UC services.

According to Gartner, "the SBC market is the fastest-growing market segment in the voice switching, control and application market. Its year-over-year growth from 2011 through 2012 was 31% and Gartner anticipates the market to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 18.3% from 2013 through 2017."

Italtel launched its SBC NetMatch-S products in 2012 and currently offers different editions, each one with a different platform. Its product range offers capabilities that are similar but differentiated in terms of scale and performance. Since launching NetMatch-S, Italtel has secured contracts for its SBC with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Italian service providers, as well as with ENEL (the first Italian utility), a leading financial institution, Terrecablate (Italian local operator), and a Tier 2 Spanish service provider.

Session border controllers offer communications service providers a set of functions that address service delivery problems caused by the creation of Internet Protocol (IP) network islands. These problems generally relate to network security, quality of service (QoS) management and network interoperability. SBCs enable separate SIP, H.323 and WebRTC networks to connect securely and cost-effectively, without compromising quality.
