PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (AP) -- J&J Snack Foods Corp. said Friday it acquired Kim & Scott's Gourmet Pretzels, a soft pretzel maker based in Chicago.

The companies didn't disclose the financial terms of the deal.

J&J Snack Foods, which makes Superpretzel, Icee and Slush Puppie and other snack brands, says it plans to expand Kim & Scott's.

Scott Holstein, who founded Kim & Scott's 16 years ago, said the company sought out J&J for the acquisition in an effort to make the Kim & Scott's brand "bigger and better."

Holstein will continue to work for the company.

J&J shares closed the day up 48 cents at $56.06.
