Nissan January sales up 2 percent on rising demand for Sentra, Pathfinder

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) -- Nissan North America Inc. said Friday that its January vehicle sales rose 2 percent on higher demand for its Sentra sedan and Pathfiner SUV.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Japanese automaker sold 80,919 vehicles in January, up from 79,313 a year earlier.

TOP SELLER: Nissan sold 21,464 Altima sedans, down 4 percent from a year earlier but still its best-seller.

HOT MODELS: Pathfinder sales tripled to 6,281, from 2,081 a year earlier. Versa hatchback sales rose 9 percent to 10,270, from 9,418 a year earlier. Sentra sales rose 27 percent to 8,979, from 7,066.
