Toyota sales fall 7 percent in January as cold weather takes a toll

Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday that its January U.S. sales fell 7 percent due to frigid winter weather.

BY THE NUMBERS: Toyota said it sold 146,365 cars and trucks in January, down from 157,725 a year ago.

TOP SELLERS: Toyota sold 23,332 Camry midsize sedans, down 27 percent from last January. Sales of the Corolla small car fell 4.5 percent to 22,753.

HOT MODELS: Sales of the recently redesigned RAV4 small SUV jumped 45 percent to 16,880, while sales of the Lexus IS sedan more than doubled to 3,048.
