JDSU Introduces xSIGHT(TM) Solution for Customer Experience Assurance

Provides Mobile Operators With New Assurance Model in the Era of Big Data to Improve the Customer Experience and Maximize Profitability in 4G/LTE Networks and Beyond

Marketwired

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 24, 2014) - JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) and (TSX: JDU) today announced that it has launched a new customer experience assurance (CEA) solution for mobile operators of 4G/LTE networks called xSIGHT.™

The new xSIGHT solution differs from traditional assurance solutions by delivering a real-time and highly integrated view of network performance, service performance and the customer experience within seconds to help mobile operators proactively identify and resolve problems having the greatest impact on their mobile users.

As mobile users continue to migrate to faster 4G/LTE networks and consume more data from a variety of applications and mobile devices, network complexity and traffic is increasing, making it more complicated for mobile operators to maintain a high level of service quality and to satisfy rapidly changing network, service and customer requirements. At the same time, consumer expectations for a high quality and seamless network experience for mobile voice, data and video services also continues to rise.

With xSIGHT, the portal of integrated assurance and diagnostic applications is combined with an open real-time intelligence platform that lets operators of 4G/LTE networks access and analyze value-based data from a wide variety of sources across the entire network.

Analyst firm Analysys Mason also cites that service quality issues are responsible for 40 percent of all customer churn, making service assurance an increasingly important element in the rapidly evolving mobile network space. A mobile data study from JDSU in January also indicates that heavy mobile users consume ten times more bandwidth when they move to LTE networks.

"JDSU has been critical to the buildout of LTE networks since their inception, and we've seen what big data and intensive applications like video have done to complicate networks and the customer experience for mobile operators," said David Heard, president of the Network and Service Enablement business segment at JDSU. "With xSIGHT, we're not looking to just address the challenges mobile operators are facing today but providing them with a platform that sets them up to be successful as more intensive applications emerge from 4G to 5G networks and beyond."

"Mobile operators are investing in real-time network analytics in order to provide a superior customer experience and to control churn," said Patrick Kelly, research director at Analysys Mason. "JDSU solutions provide improved insight to both network operations and customer care groups."

Key benefits of xSIGHT include:

  • Improved Customer Experience - Mobile operators can proactively identify and resolve customer impacting issues in four easy steps and in a fraction of the time compared to traditional assurance solutions.

  • Real-Time Insight - While traditional assurance systems take 10-15 minutes to access and analyze data, xSIGHT can process data and present metrics in seconds. This real time insight is critical as networks become more dynamic and network activity continues to fluctuate at an increasingly faster pace.

  • Deep Visibility and Data Monetization - Flexible and open platform collects and correlates data from any source and delivers real-time, relevant and location-aware intelligence to any application, for deep network visibility. Fast and multi-faceted access to specific data improves mobile operators' ability to proactively identify issues and opportunities and create new revenue-generating services.

  • Improved Cost and Scalability - New value-based approach to data collection, storage and analysis lets operators control cost with traffic growth compared to traditional solutions that treat all traffic equal and cannot scale with traffic in a financially viable fashion.
