Fourth Annual San Diego Blues Festival Will Feature 16 Bands Over Two Days, Sept. 6 & 7, With All Proceeds Benefiting the San Diego Food Bank

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 18, 2014) - The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank will host the fourth annual AimLoan.com San Diego Blues Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6 and 7, at the Embarcadero Marina Park North on the downtown waterfront, next to Seaport Village.

The festival will feature 16 national and local blues acts on two stages from noon to 8 p.m., both days. Headline artists include: Eric Burdon & the Animals, Elvin Bishop, Tommy Castro & the Painkillers, and Blues Hall of Famer, Lazy Lester.

Other festival performers include harmonica player Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, and John Primer, the Chicago bluesman who was the last guitar player in the band of the late Muddy Waters. San Diego is also well represented by the internationally renowned Candye Kane Band from Oceanside, San Diegans Missy Andersen, Big Jon Atkinson & the Nationals, and Earl Thomas & the Rhumboogies. Former Fallbrook resident Sugaray Rayford also joins the lineup.

The festival is a family-friendly event for all ages, featuring international food booths, wine and craft beer vendors, and arts and crafts vendors. Advance general admission tickets are $15 per day. There are also a limited number of VIP tickets available at $100 per day, or $150 for a two-day VIP pass. Advance tickets are available at sdbluesfest.com. Children 12 and under are allowed to attend free of charge.

The festival serves as a major fundraiser and food drive for the Food Bank. All proceeds from the event benefit the Food Bank, which feeds nearly 320,000 people per month in San Diego County. Attendees are asked to bring two cans of food to the festival for the event food drive.

This year's headliner, Eric Burdon, has one of the most powerful voices in rock. The Animals rose to prominence with their 1964 hit of the blues classic "The House of the Rising Sun" and were part of the British Invasion of the 1960s with hits such as "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place." The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and Burdon is ranked No. 57 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Food Bank president & CEO James Floros said, "As a huge blues fan, this event is the best of both worlds. Not only does the event raise important funds and food for the 320,000 people that depend on the San Diego Food Bank each month, but fans will also get to hear some of the best blues artists in the process!"
