NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire -01/13/12)- KDDI America, the US division of KDDI Corporation, a Fortune Global 500 company and worldwide leader in international telecommunications services, announce that KDDI and Rostelecom, the biggest Russian National carrier, launch 10Gbps wavelength service with the shortest latency between Japan and Europe.
KDDI Corporation (KDDI) and Rostelecom signed an Agreement early last year for upgrade and modification with Russia-Japan Cable Network (RJCN) and Transit Europe-Asia (TEA) in order to construct 10Gbps wavelength resources between Japan and Europe using the shortest route via Russia. RJCN/TEA route is 7-100msec shorter than the Indian Ocean route and 45-60msec shorter than the US/Atlantic Ocean route. The RJCN upgrade was completed in January 2012.
KDDI has closely cooperated with Rostelecom Operation team to improve the network quality and has been operating at 100% availability on IPLC service between London and Tokyo (total length 10,000km or over 6,200 miles).
This high quality broadband network connects Tokyo and Europe with the shortest distance. It is the best solution to address various demands such as low latency transmission and two-way real-time communications. The network will be ideal for large capacity contents delivery including video transmission service supporting broadcast of various events in Europe and Africa. RJCN was not affected by the earthquake in Japan because this cable is laid in the Sea of Japan. The cable has contributed to customers' demand for core backbone towards Europe and the U.S. This network will continuously play an important role to provide customers with cable diversity.
