On November 5, 2015, the Kraft Heinz Company (KHC) will be reporting its third quarter results for fiscal 2015. The company operates as a food and beverage Company in North America and internationally through its subsidiaries. It’s part of the processed and packaged goods industry and has its headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Kraft Heinz offers its products under brands including Kraft, Heinz, ABC, Capri Sun, and Classico. Its peers in the industry include Hershey (HSY), Mondelez International (MDLZ), and Mead Johnson (MJN). Hershey and Mondelez both reported their third quarter results on October 28, and Mead Johnson reported results on October 22.

Stock price performance

After the merger, Kraft Heinz started trading on July 6, 2015, on the NASDAQ under the ticker “KHC”. We saw the stock rising since the merger in the month of July. However, when the company announced layoffs on August 12, the stock fell by 1.2% and closed at $76.7. The stock started falling after that for the months of August and September. The stock started to follow a rising trend in October, trading at a range of $71–$79. The stock closed at $78.3 on November 2.

Hershey and Mead Johnson also trade on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange), closing at $88.0 and $82.5, respectively, on November 2. Mondelez trades on the NASDAQ, closing at $46.4 on November 2. The First Trust US IPO ETF (FPX) invests 5.6% of its portfolio in the Kraft Heinz stock. It closed at $53 on November 2. The FPX ETF’s YTD (or year-to-date) return is 5.4%. On November 2, Hershey and Mead Johnson reported a YTD return of -15.4% and -18.0%, respectively, while Mondelez reported positive YTD returns of 27.9%.
