Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

KKR (KKR): Some 5,600 January 21 calls were purchased in the private-equity firm for $0.75 as investors position for a rally into early next year. KKR rose 1.20 percent to $18.52.

Dole Food (DOLE): Investors sold the July 8 puts about bought the July 10 calls. Volume was below open interest at both strikes, indicating that a protective strategy was likely closed. DOLE rose 0.66 percent to $9.40.

Merck (MRK): Some 11,500 January 40 puts changed hands as investors brace for a pullback in the high-flying pharmaceutical name. MRK fell 0.55 percent to $48.46.
