Yahoo (YHOO): Investors bought more than 14,000 September 15 in-the-money calls, mostly for $1.13 and $1.15, looking for the shares to push higher. YHOO is down 1.37 percent to $15.77.
Bank of America (BAC): An even 14,000 January 2014 7 puts were purchased for $1.45 and $1.46. Volume was far below open interest it the strike, so the activity may result from a short position being closed. BAC fell 1.11 percent to $7.13.
E*Trade Financial (ETFC): More than 10,000 September 8 calls were purchased, mostly for $0.27 and $0.28, against open interest of just 790 contracts as traders look for the stock to rally. ETFC dropped 4.19 percent to $7.43. (See related story )
Knight Capital Group (KCG): More than 30,000 August 2.50 puts were bought for $0.31 to $0.50 as investors look for the stock to keep falling. Volume was more than 40 times open interest in the strike. KCG plunged 50 percent to $3.45. (See related story )
