Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Liberty Global (LBTYA): A trader purchased 25,000 January 60 calls were purchased for $1.95. A large block of shares was sold around the same time, indicating the use of a so-called delta-neutral strategy which profits from increased volatility rather than a move in a specific direction.
LBTYA rose 2.58 percent to $59.18.

Bank of America (BAC): More than 23,000 October 8 calls were purchased, mostly for $1.32 to $1.35, as investors look for upside in the share price. BAC rose 0.05 percent to $9.20.

EMC (EMC): More than 33,000 April 25 puts were bought, mostly for $1.39 to $1.41. A similar number of October 25 puts were sold at the same time against open interest, indicating that a protective position was rolled forward in time. EMC rose 1.74 percent to $28.
