Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.
Bank of America (BAC): A block of 20,000 January 10 calls was purchased for $0.16. While the trade is bullish, volume was far below open interest at the strike. BAC rose 1.04 percent to $7.75.
Sprint Nextel (S): An investor sold 11,000 August 4 calls for $0.44 against open interest and bought 15,700 November 5 calls for $0.27. The trade is bullish because they increased the number of contracts owned and prolonged the wager by three months. S rose 3.60 percent to $4.47.
MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR): Volume surged in the August 2 puts and the August 1.50 puts as an investor exited a downside trade. It was probably intended as a hedge before the company's earnings report this morning. WFR rallied 16 percent to $2.39.
Apple (AAPL): Volume surged in the August 555 calls as investors sought to reap the company's quarterly cash dividend. AAPL rose 0.05 percent to $621.20.
