Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.
Illumina (NasdaqGS:ILMN): Investors sold puts and bought calls after Roche made a hostile offer of $44.50 a share for the company. In the largest trade, 6,200 March 55 calls were bought for $1.05 and an equal number of March 50 puts were sold for $1.05. The was also selling in the February 50 puts and the June 50 calls. The activity is strongly bullish. ILMN rocketed 43 percent to $53.79.
Cheniere Energy (AMEX:LNG): More than 5,500 March 13 calls were bought for $1.10 as traders look for upside in the stock. LNG rose 1.39 percent to $11.46.
Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S): About 38,000 August 2 puts were bought, mostly for $0.31 and $0.32, as traders look for the stock to make new lows. S fell 1.38 percent to $2.14. (See related post on InsideOptions Pro)
Juniper Networks (NYSE:JNPR): The 5,500 February 25 calls and February 21 puts traded heavily as investors look for movement ahead of the company's earnings report tomorrow afternoon. JNPR fell 1.90 percent to $22.71.
McMoran Exploration (NYSE:MMR): More than 5,000 February 9 puts were bought for $0.19, although volume was below open interest in the strike. MMR fell 1.38 percent to $12.15.
