Microsoft (MSFT): Some 18,500 July 30 calls were bought for $0.59 to $0.67 as investors positioned for upside in the share price. MSFT rose 0.75 percent to $28.09.
Staples (SPLS): More than 17,000 June 14 calls were purchased, mostly for $0.65 and $0.70, as traders look for the retailer to rally in coming months. SPLS rose 2.08 percent to $13.24.
International Paper (IP): An investor bought 15,000 July 45 calls for $1.25 and sold an equal number of July 50 calls for $0.27. Known as a bullish call spread , the position will profit from upside in the share price and follows a similar transaction on Friday. IP fell 1.29 percent to $41.96. (See our Education section)
