IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 26, 2013) - Latisys, a leading provider of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions spanning data center colocation, managed hosting, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, today announced that it has commenced construction on an additional 12,000 square feet of raised floor and will add 1.8 megawatts of power in its Irvine, Ca. data center.
Latisys Irvine serves as the West coast hub of Latisys' national IT Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform -- which also includes Denver as an ideal Disaster Recovery site, along with Chicago and Northern Virginia as gateways to Europe and Latin America.
The current expansion is to Latisys OC2 which currently features 20 megawatts of power capacity, state-of-the-art cooling and the latest advancements in physical and logical security systems. OC2 encompasses 93,000 sq. ft. of data center space and joins OC1 (50,000 sq. ft.) next door making Latisys the largest data center operator -- offering more power per square foot than any data center in Orange County.
OC2 is tied directly to a variety of fiber carriers, monitored 24x7x365 by on-site NOC personnel and systems, and operated under SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 audited controls. This replaces the SAS 70 guidebook and reaffirms Latisys' commitment to meet the highest standards for availability and security, while making sure all of the appropriate controls and safeguards are firmly in place.
Latisys will complete construction and make the new space in OC2 available to customers by the end of Q2, 2013. In addition, Latisys also announced that it has purchased its OC1 data center in a strategic move to control existing assets for the long term.
Latisys' growth in Southern California reflects an increasing national market demand for data center, hosting and cloud services, with Gartner predicting the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market will grow by 47.8% through 2015.
