Jane Lauder, Peter Lichtenthal to take on additional responsibilities at Estee Lauder Cos.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Jane Lauder and Peter Lichtenthal are taking on additional responsibilities at Estee Lauder, the beauty products company said Thursday.

Lauder, who serves as global president and general manager of the Origins and Ojon brands, will now be adding the Darphin brand to that group. She will continue to report to Lynne Greene, who is taking on her new role as group president of Clinique, Origins, Ojon, Aveda and Darphin at the start of the new year.

Greene will continue to serve as president of the Clinique brand.

Lichtenthal, who is president of hair care brand Bumble and bumble, will now also oversee the Smashbox cosmetics brand. He will now report to John Demsey, group president of Estée Lauder, MAC, Tom Ford Beauty, Prescriptives, Bobbi Brown, La Mer, Jo Malone and Smashbox. Demsey will add Bumble and bumble to that group on Jan. 1, 2013.

Earlier this month Estee Lauder Cos. reported that its first-quarter net income rose 8 percent, boosted by strong sales growth in North America and China.

Shares of the New York company climbed 33 cents to $58.38 in morning trading.
