NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:


LDK Solar Co., down 12 cents at $1.90

The solar equipment maker posted a first-quarter loss and cut its revenue forecast for the year because of the plunge in solar panel prices.

First Horizon National Corp., up 30 cents at $8.21

Investors were relieved that the bank has released more details about how much it will cost to boost its mortgage repurchase reserve.


News Corp., up $1.68 at $21.76

The media conglomerate plagued by a phone-hacking scandal confirmed that it's considering splitting into two companies.

Apollo Group Inc., up $3.34 at $35.81

The for-profit education company's most recent quarterly results, excluding special items, topped Wall Street expectations.

Seagate Technology PLC, up 85 cents at $24.12

More fund managers may buy shares of the hard drive maker because it is being added to the Standard & Poor's 500 index.

James River Coal Co., down 43 cents at $2.49

Credit ratings agency Standard & Poor's downgraded the coal miner's debt further into junk territory because of declining coal demand.

Supernus Pharmaceuticals Inc., up $6.52 at $12.23

The Food and Drug Administration gave tentative approval to the newly public drugmaker's epilepsy drug candidate, Trokendi XR.

ValueClick Inc., down $1.13 at $14.47

A Piper Jaffray analyst downgraded shares of the Internet advertising company on concerns about the advertising climate.
