Leading-Edge Customer Completes Acceptance of DCG Systems OptiFIB Viper for Sub-20 nm Node Circuit Edit

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire -02/09/12)- DCG Systems, Inc. announced today the purchase, installation and acceptance of the OptiFIB Viper, next generation system for circuit edit, at a key customer site. The customer is targeting the system for backside edits on sub-20 nm samples. Incorporating a new coaxial photon-ion column, the new system provides spot sizes 50% smaller than those of its predecessor, the OptiFIB-IV. With its seamless operation at lower beam energies, the OptiFIB Viper avoids damage to the sensitive new materials used in advanced semiconductor processes. Offering the best endpoint capability at sub-pA beam currents in the market today; the breakthrough system has all the key capabilities to meet the dimensional and material challenges of 20 nm technologies and beyond.

After completing acceptance, the customer indicated that DCG's OptiFIB Viper is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor, and has a significant edge over other systems evaluated. With its unique coaxial photon ion column and user-friendly interface, the Viper's unparalleled milling and advanced image resolution tackles the complex challenges of the new processes and technology.

"The successful acceptance of the OptiFIB Viper at a leading manufacturer's FIB lab shows their belief and confidence in our performance commitment and leadership in circuit edit technologies," stated Dr Israel Niv, CEO of DCG Systems. "We continue to invest in innovations like the OptiFIB Viper to meet new challenges in the IC industry."
