League of Legends Patch 7.4 takes aim at Lethality items, Cho’Gath, and Yordle fingers

AD carries have been lamenting the state of League of Legends since the release of the Courage of the Colossus Mastery, and Riot Games is doing its best to change that. In Patch 7.4, the developer is changing up some Lethality items to help AD carries navigate the dangerous waters of the current tank meta.

First up, Last Whisper’s bonus armor penetration is up 30% to 45% while its AD stat has dropped to 10 from 25. Ideally, it’ll operate much like the pre-Patch 5.22 Last Whisper and help AD champs with a few items under their belt become even stronger.

To help squishies survive against Youmuu’s Ghostblade-building assassins, Riot has dropped the Lethality on the item from 20 to 15, make it less effective against, well, everyone. Sorry, assassins. Meanwhile, Lord Dominik’s Regards requires enemies to have 500 more health than before to activate, making it essentially an AD carry-only item (plus a couple of melee ADs like Master Yi).

As for Mastery changes, Fervor of Battle stacks stick longer, while Warlord’s Bloodlust grants less lifesteal. That way, extended trades and teamfights aren’t so easily nullified while in 2v2 situations, making bot lane kills much more likely. Hooray for all-ins!

Worry not about all those math-heavy stats changes, some champions are getting changes, too.

Cho’Gath is the big (and I do mean big) change in Patch 7.4, as his Feast stacks can be gained indefinitely and don’t fall off when he dies. Thankfully, with that eyebrow-raising change comes some nerfs. After five stacks from minions, Cho can only gain more from Feasting on large monsters or champions, the AP ratio is decreased (though it does add scaling based on his bonus health), and he stops gaining size and attack range at 10 stacks. The Terror of the Void is about to become a big boy.

The lone buff of the patch goes to Bard, who will now move faster after picking up Chimes.

Nerfs are coming in hot, with Corki’s normal missiles getting a nerf, the slow duration on Jhin’s ult bullets decreased, Maokai’s Q mana cost up and E impact damage removed, and Ryze’s Q damage decreased against enemies that have already been hit by his E.

Also in the patch are increases to catch-up experience, a 100 gold decrease to the first tower bonus, and slightly more gold to everyone who helps destroy a ward.

But the biggest nerf here is easily to Yordles, who are losing an entire finger to Patch 7.4. Where the little guys once had a full five fingers, they now have a mere four, a full 20% decrease to hand power. Life’s tough when you’re a Yordle.
