Lenovo eyes China phone lead

Yang Yuanqing, the Chinese computer and electronics maker's CEO, said Lenovo Group aims to be No. 1 in China smartphone sales in '13, ahead of current leader Samsung, and keeping Apple (AAPL) No. 3. A story in state-run China Daily quoted Yang saying innovation, distribution and operations will give Lenovo the lead. A recent report said Samsung sold 7.53 mil smartphones in China in Q3 vs. 6.96 mil for Lenovo and 2.08 mil for Apple, which started selling iPhone 5s there in Dec.
