LifePoint tops, outlook anemic

The spinoff of hospital giant HCA Holdings (HCA) said Q4 EPS fell 1% to 77 cents, beating views by 12 cents. Revenue dipped 2.5% to $893.3 mil, above estimates for $861.7 mil. LifePoint (LPNT) said patient admissions fell 2%, while inpatient surgeries fell 7% and outpatient surgeries dropped 1.6%. Salaries and benefits paid jumped 20% to $424.3 mil, and money spent on supplies rose 16% to $141.9 mil. LifePoint, which has an IBD Composite Rating of 86, an EPS Rating of 58 and a Relative Strength Rating of 71, sees '13 EPS of $2.73-$3.11, below analyst forecasts for $3.22. Shares rose 0.3% to 44.34.
