SINGAPORE - Mercedes-Benz may have a three-pointed star as its emblem, but the brand is leaning on a bit of outside star quality here.
The company has announced Mediacorp artistes Rebecca Lim (above) and Desmond Tan (below) as new brand ambassadors.
They join Elvin Ng, another Mediacorp artiste, in the brand's lineup of ambassadors.
The youthful artistes are part of a wider push by Mercedes-Benz to woo a broader clientele. Today the brand is launching the GLA-Class, a compact SUV (Sports UtilityVehicle) that is aimed at younger drivers.
The GLA, which is priced from $186,888 with COE, will be driven by Desmond Tan. He calls it a "perfect fit" for his lifestyle, and counts extreme sports as a hobby. "I've always been a fan of Mercedes-Benz cars, he says, adding that he "can't wait" to take his new car on an adventure.
As for Rebecca Lim, her new wheels are the sporty CLA-Class, a four-door coupe. "This car, to me, is the perfect combination of style and comfort," says the actress and host.
The cheapest model is the CLA 180, which is priced at $172,888 with COE.
The two models are part of Mercedes' New Generation Compact Cars, which were created to extend the brand's product portfolio downwards from its core lineup of luxury sedans.
