Mallon said the company saw an opportunity to fill the void left by the decline in the number of full-time career agents. As a result, he said, American International Group Inc. created a new distribution group to “offer a total financial solution to a household or small business.” To maximize the effectiveness of the network, Mallon said it’s crucial that all of the agents or producers obtain a securities license. “Some of those solutions are likely to be registered products; therefore, it's critically important that we train our producers to be able to get that licensing,” Mallon said.
