A.M. BestTV: U.S. Independent Agents Outline National Priorities

Business Wire

This episode of A.M. BestTV looks at the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America’s (IIABA) legislative conference in Washington, where members pushed for key legislative priorities, including terrorism risk cover, multistate licensing, a greater role in health care insurance and tax changes. IIABA President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Rusbuldt said his organization is working to convince lawmakers to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program. Many insurers have they would be unable to continuing offering terrorism coverage without a government backstop in place. Charles Symington, senior vice president, government affairs, IIABA, said the organization has been talking to congressional leadership about packaging an extension for the federal backstop for terrorism insurance with the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers Reform Act of 2013, or NARAB II, which seeks to streamline agent and broker licensing.
