Markets calm down, Sprint vs. AT&T and 'sky high' wifi prices

After a volatile five trading days, stocks are lower, but markets seem to have calmed down heading into the end of the week.

Mobile wars: Sprint vs. AT&T
It's the latest salvo in the cell phone wars. Sprint (S), the fourth largest mobile network in the country, is offering users of DirecTV, the satellite broadcaster recently bought by AT&T (T), a free year of mobile phone use. Is Sprint getting desperate?

China's richest man buys Ironman
China's Dalian Wanda Group is buying World Triathlon Corporation, owner of the Ironman brand and races. The pricetag: $650 million dollars. Dalian Wanda chairman, Wang Jianlin, believes as the Chinese become wealthier, they will pay more attention to fitness and the triathlon will become more popular. The traditional Ironman race, by the way, is a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. There are much shorter races under the Ironman brand as well.

Sky high WiFi
In-flight WiFi is notorious for being slow and pricey. But this week inflight WiFi provider Gogo (GOGO) received FAA approval for new technology that will allow for faster inflight WiFi speeds. Gogo is the largest provider of inflight WiFi. Other top providers include ViaStat and Global Eagle Entertainment.
